This is a commission of “The Christ Window” circa 1906. The window is currently housed at First Church, First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley, San Diego CA, and is a favorite of my client. He wanted his wife to be able to see it in their home everyday. I reproduced it in acrylic paint on canvas. It’s 18″ x 24″
Here’s my latest painting. A 20″x 24″ Oil on canvas painting of my daughter exploring the sand dunes in Ocean Beach, San Diego. I completed this over the Summer of 2015 right after I discovered my grandmother has liver cancer. I tried to put all my emotions over the news into the sky, while thinking about the carefree qualities of youth and good health.
I’ve finally carved out a little time to complete an oil painting. It’s been difficult over the past year, with 2 young children to make time to really get lost in a painting. It feels so good to be back! I’m hoping this will be the start of a train, or transportation series. I already have my next painting in mind, so stand by.
I’m happy to say I’ve been asked to return for another show at Cosmos Coffee Cafe in the La Mesa Village! The artwork is currently on display and will be exhibited through November 2012. There’s some new illustrations and a hanful of new paintings along with some older favorites. The theme is “childhood wonder”. Stop by and enjoy some art and some fine coffee. Let me know what you think!
I was contacted through http://www.bendystar.etsy.com to do a commission as a Christmas present. It was a great experience working with this client and together we found the right image to work from. I altered the background of the photograph she provided from the airport to a more natural setting. Here are some of the things she said about the painting, “The painting is absolutely perfect…Because of your wonderful and special talent, we have a family keepsake that will be cherished forever. You have captured Mike and Kyla perfectly! Thank you again…You have been awesome to work with.” -Kathy
